Gypsy Jazz Concert with Van Django

For the past 12 years, I’ve had the pleasure of playing with Van Django every Christmas. This year I will be doing my first official non-Christmas show with them at the Inlet Theatre!

Van Django is a well known Vancouver group that plays music in the style of Django Reinhardt. Reinhardt was was a Belgian-born Romani jazz guitarist and composer, known for his significant contributions to jazz music, particularly in the genre of gypsy jazz. He co-founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France and is celebrated for his innovative guitar techniques and compositions like "Minor Swing" and "Nuages."

Van Django is made up of four of Vancouver’s finest players - Cameron Wilson, violin, Budge Schachte, guitar, Brent Gubbels, bass and Finn Manniche, guitar. Their own collaborations within the group take it one step further and the group puts unique spins on the idiom referencing classical, jazz and sometimes rock motifs. I’m so excited to join them on Saturday, January 31 and put my own spin on top (including some blues and even disco)!
